BOOK 3 IN THE I WILL NOT KILL MYSELF, OLIVIA SERIES
The last time Jimmy saw his life coach and good friend Fumio Yakatori was in Rio de Janeiro, where Fumio taught him how to be happy, before Jimmy moved on to Uruguay, received the biggest surprise of his life, and then exuberantly continued his travels around South America. But since parting ways, they’ve kept in touch, and in this book, Fumio tells Jimmy about his own epic adventure through the continent: beginning in Brazil’s outrageous party capital of Florianópolis and taking him to the electricity-less, hippie town of Cabo Polonio in Uruguay; bringing him face-to-face with some of the world’s most breathtaking lakes, icebergs and glaciers in the southernmost tip of Argentina; and seeing him go volcano-hiking, stargazing and to the most interesting coffee shop he’s ever been to in Chile. Just like Jimmy and Olivia did, he then follows the backtracker trail to the Bolivian Salt Flats, and after his own life-altering experience there, an unforeseen sequence of events leads him all the way to Colombia’s portside city of Cartagena – where he embarks on a thrilling 7,500 kilometre journey that’s his most unpredictable yet.
But, being Jimmy’s life coach, Fumio tells him his weird, wonderful stories in such a way that he’s continuously teaching Jimmy how to be the content, happy person he wants to be. After all, that’s Jimmy’s number one goal – to be depression-free and happy for the rest of his life – and after how helpful Fumio proved to be in Rio, then who better to help him achieve it?
